THE EVE - CAFÉ AND BAR OPENS AT EVERLEIGH AFL OVAL, BRINGING NEW ENERGY TO GREENBANK’S COMMUNITY HUB
There’s a new kid on the block in Greenbank – but don’t let the fresh paint and polished countertops fool you. Award winning The Eve – Café and Bar, the latest addition to Everleigh’s $16 million AFL Sports Park, is already feeling like an old friend to the locals. It’s a place where you can grab a latte after dropping off the kids, catch up with mates over brunch or take a breather while cheering on your favourite team from the sidelines.
Perched proudly beside Everleigh’s pristine AFL Oval, The Eve Cafe is bringing a new vibe to Brisbane’s south-west. Located in the heart of Everleigh, it’s the kind of spot that makes you want to take it slow and enjoy the good things in life. And if you ask locals Caroline and Brad, that’s exactly what they had in mind when they opened the doors.
Within weeks of its grand opening, The Eve Cafe has already cemented its position among the top cafes in the region, after taking home gold and being named the best cafe in Logan for 2024 at the Love My Café Awards, highlighting dedication, passion, and commitment to the community.
A Community Dream Come to Life
For Caroline and Brad, moving to Greenbank was all about finding a true community and in just over a year, they knew they’d found it. “There’s something truly special about this place,” says Brad. “It’s that classic ‘everyone knows your name’ vibe, and we wanted The Eve to add to that – a spot where people can really feel like they belong.”
Their dream started when they connected with the Greenbank Giants AFL Club, sparking the idea to create a café that would double as a community hangout. With Caroline’s 23 years of hospitality experience, they set out to build a place that goes beyond just food and coffee. “We wanted The Eve to feel like an extension of home,” Caroline explains. “It’s about family breakfasts, weekend lunches, and yes, even a proper sit-down meal with friends.”
A Community-Centred Precinct
The Eve’s launch caps off the completion of Everleigh Sports Park, a state-of-the-art AFL precinct that’s set to be a major hub for community sports and events across Greenbank and beyond.
Built through a collaboration between Mirvac, Logan City Council, the Queensland Government, and AFL Queensland, the park features an impressive MCG-sized AFL oval, Auskick field, a state-of-the-art clubhouse, six-metre electronic scoreboard, and enough seating to accommodate 300 fans, with extra room for 700 more spectators who prefer a more ‘on the grass’ experience.
And while the footy fanatics have been loving the new digs since September, The Eve is quickly becoming the spot for anyone looking for a bit of connection over a cuppa. Think of it as the heart of Everleigh, pulsing with energy, cheers and the occasional hint of freshly brewed coffee.
Evening Plans Brewing for 2025
Caroline and Brad have big plans for The Eve. With hopes to start evening hours in 2025 – once liquor licensing is sorted – they’re envisioning Friday to Sunday evening sessions with a menu of share plates, charcuterie boards and local beers, wines and cocktails.
“Think relaxed Friday nights, easy-going Saturday afternoons and a place to celebrate with friends and family on Sundays,” Brad said. “We’re really looking forward to creating a spot that brings people together.”
Meet Chef Damon: Food with Heart
Adding culinary firepower to The Eve is Chef Damon Enright, whose 30-plus years in kitchens have given him a knack for dishing out meals that make people want to linger. With a background in fine dining, pubs and cafés, Damon is all about blending quality with comfort. His menu for The Eve balances fresh, seasonal ingredients with familiar favourites, not to mention a rotating cocktail selection that tips its hat to local flavours.
“We’re excited to introduce new ideas while keeping things approachable,” Caroline says. “It’s all about finding that balance – food that’s both thoughtful and inviting.”
The Eve’s Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Caroline and Brad are eager to make The Eve a dynamic part of the community. With plans to host local events, support sports matches and create special experiences for Greenbank residents.
