TEENAGE DREAM OF OWNING A HOME BECOMES REALITY FOR YOUNG FAMILY

Teenage Dream of Owning a Home Becomes Reality

Amelia and Luke were only teenagers when the couple from Ipswich decided they wanted to own their first home

It was a decision that would soon lead them, and their 21-month-old son, to Everleigh, Mirvac’s masterplan community in Greenbank.

“I was eighteen and Luke was nineteen when we first spoke about owning our own home. From that point on, we started our savings journey and began the search for a community that would meet our needs,” says Amelia.

“I had family living in Greenbank and thought it would be a great location to build a home, with lots of young families in the area, easy access to Brisbane, and plenty of development planned in the area.

“One day when visiting my family, we decided to make a stop at Everleigh. As soon as we drove into the community, we began to picture what it would be like to live and create a life here.”

Amelia says it was around this time they found out they were expecting their first child, Arlen.

“Knowing we had a child on the way only furthered our desire to buy at Everleigh,” she says.

“It was important for Luke and I to have our son grow up in a safe and welcoming environment, which is what Everleigh offers.

“It was a bonus to know Everleigh has a primary school onsite and a strong sense of community, which we've gotten to know through ’ve had already gotten to know attending free community events and activities hosted by Mirvac,” she says.

At the end of 2021, once the pair had their finances in order, they met with the Everleigh sales team to discuss buying a lot.

“Demand for land at Everleigh is very high, so we made sure we expressed our interest right away to the sales team,” says Amelia.

“We worked with Eileen, who was very friendly and supportive, answered all our questions and helped us to secure a 300sqm lot to build our 4-bedroom home,” she says.
Amelia, now 22, and Luke, 23, officially moved into their home at Everleigh at the start of 2024 with their son.

“It was such a rewarding feeling moving into our first home at Everleigh, which has been built to suit our family’s needs,” says Luke.

“The community has been so welcoming, and it’s been nice taking Arlen to Everleigh or Leaf Park to play on the swings or slides on the weekends. It’s the perfect place to watch him grow,” he says.

Luke says it took careful planning for the couple to achieve their teenage dream of owning a home.

“We had spent the previous three years saving, cutting back on going out and staying with family to put us on the right path to building a home.

“There is a perception out there that owning a home while you're young is nearly impossible.

“While it isn’t easy, it was achievable for us with the right support, professional advice, and sticking to a realistic timeline for meeting our savings goals,” he says.
