INSIGHTS INTO EVERLEIGH'S AWARD-WINNING MASTERPLAN DESIGN

For the second consecutive year, Mirvac’s Everleigh community has won the Master Planning category at the Logan Urban Design Awards.

The judges' citation said - “Everleigh by Mirvac offers a delightfully green urban lifestyle setting with an elegant simplicity in its master planning that belies the sophistication of its curative approach to green infrastructure and place-based living.

“Embracing topography, committing to high amenity, active transport, integrating genuine passive and active recreational spaces, and creating a suite of distinctive walkable communities are hallmarks of the high-quality master plan underpinning the carefully crafted delivery of this exemplary new community.”

We caught up with Mirvac Residential Queensland Project Director Mark Clancy to delve further into the careful consideration and thoughtful development of Everleigh and the reasons why it continues to attract such high acclaim.

Q. Can you tell us about Everleigh and why it won the Master Planning award for the second time?

Firstly, the Everleigh team is extremely proud and thankful for the recognition through Logan City Council’s Urban Design Awards.

Mirvac has carefully crafted the Everleigh masterplan to respond to the unique attributes of the site by respecting and enhancing environmental values and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to understand and best service the needs of the existing and future community. Considered urban design and landscape architecture create a unique environment that sets Everleigh apart with many visitors saying Everleigh feels good, feels right, or feels like home.

It is a community that prides itself on resident connection, quality homes, green open spaces and access to local amenities, with nature and neighbourliness at its heart, conjuring the feelings of community pride and belonging.

Among other things, the award took into consideration how Everleigh promotes a healthy, safe, vibrant and enjoyable public environment, and creates meaningful landscapes to be cherished and cared for by future generations.

Q. How does Everleigh promote the connection between people, buildings and the landscape?

Everleigh evokes the feeling of ‘being home’ through great design, connectivity, nature and wellbeing; underpinned by Mirvac’s strong understanding of how people live, use spaces and connect.

The housing, streets and spaces at Everleigh consistently embrace the area’s natural characteristics, providing a strong sense of place for residents to connect with, originating with a defined entry statement that clearly announces, ‘you’re home’.

Open space is activated through a comprehensive program of community events and activities focussing on wellbeing, connecting people, and promoting community pride.

Q. The Everleigh masterplan has 148 hectares of bushland and walking trails – how does this benefit residents?

Embracing nature is a hallmark of Mirvac projects. We seek to retain or improve natural assets, preserve flora and fauna, promote environmental sustainability, and surround our residents in nature to improve their own health and wellbeing.

At Everleigh, landscaped green spaces, walking trails and amenities offer shade and comfort, promote an active lifestyle, and provide inclusive platforms for activities through Everleigh’s community program, Enriching Communities Greenbank, which activates these assets to foster lasting connections and enhance the lives of our residents.

Q. How does Everleigh safeguard its community by ensuring there are housing and employment options for people in all stages of life?

Everleigh embraces all ages and abilities through accessible public spaces, the new Everleigh State School, and planned neighbourhood centre providing employment and entrepreneurial opportunities, together with diverse housing options.

This variety of housing, infrastructure and public areas supports community resilience and diversity, with multi-use and adaptable homes, streets and spaces encouraging intergenerational living and connections.

Q. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

We’d like to thank Logan City Council, Division 11 Councillor, Cr Natalie Willcocks, the judges and the award sponsors. We’re honoured to receive this coveted award, proud of the growing Everleigh community, and excited by what the future holds.
