NEW CLUBHOUSE TO COMPLETE $16 MILLION AFL PRECINCT

AFL Clubhouse

Plans have been unveiled for a new state-of-the-art $6 million AFL clubhouse and café, which will complete a $16 million competition-grade AFL precinct located at Everleigh, with work to commence with Bedford Builders in November and completion anticipated for mid-2024.

The new clubhouse will feature two buildings, with two sets of unisex change rooms to cater for multiple back-to-back games, unisex umpire rooms, a club room and public toilets.

It will also include a 130sqm café tenancy with full kitchen, which will be offered to a commercial operator to manage seven days a week.

It comes as the finishing touches are made to the adjoining MCG-sized AFL oval and Auskick field, which have room for approximately 1,000 spectators and are due to officially launch with a community event on Saturday, November 18.

The field also features a huge six-metre by three-metre electronic scoreboard, State competition standard goal posts, behind goal netting, field fencing, field lighting and a maintenance shed.

The Everleigh Sports Park Clubhouse has been fast-tracked through a partnership between Mirvac, Logan City Council, State Government and AFL Queensland.

Mirvac General Manager Residential Queensland Warwick Bible says the partnership enables the facility to come to fruition years earlier than anticipated.

“The plans are the result of years of work behind the scenes with Council, State Government and AFL Queensland and we’re excited to now start working on bringing the clubhouse to life,” he says.

“Our focus is on delivering a facility our community can be proud of and that supports new opportunities for people in this area to get active and enjoy the social interaction that goes hand-in-hand with sport.

“The AFL precinct is about 5.5-hectares of our broader central 25-hectare Everleigh Regional Sports Park, which will include courts and additional fields that will be rolled-out in stages over the coming years, and that are well-connected via extensive pathways and linkages to Everleigh State School.”

City of Logan Mayor Darren Power says the purpose-built facility will encourage community sport at all levels.

“As a passionate AFL supporter, I’m pleased to see Council invest in one of South-East Queensland’s fastest growing sports,” he says.

“Facilities like the Everleigh Sports Park Clubhouse provide an opportunity for our aspiring talent to hone their craft, while still supporting our recreational athletes with a high-quality community facility.”

Division 11 Councillor Natalie Willcocks says the clubhouse will become a key feature of the new grounds for residents.

“Nothing brings a community together quite like sport, and I look forward to supporting our local AFL teams and connecting with the community at the Everleigh Sports Park Clubhouse once it is completed,” she says.

Member for Logan, Linus Power says Everleigh will be the place to be in 2024.

“The fields are ready and now the commencement of the Clubhouse is the final piece of this incredible investment in our community,” he says.

“AFL membership is rising every year for both men and women and I’m grateful that Mirvac has played a significant role in ensuring the AFL community has a state-of-the-art facility and playing fields for this fantastic sport in my electorate."

Head of AFL Queensland Trisha Squires says her team is proud to have contributed to the facility through the AFL Grand Final Facilities Fund.

“We’ve continued to see huge increase in Aussie Rules’ participation across Queensland, with the region surrounding the Everleigh facility booming, with almost 100 Auskick registrations, and Park Ridge’s Juniors seeing a 63 per cent growth since 2022," she says.

“It is an exciting growth area and to be involved in a new development like this, will provide an opportunity for new participants to join our game right on their doorsteps.

“With the new field and the clubhouse, we’re excited to see Everleigh as a place for the community to gather, activate, and play our sport.”
