EVERLEIGH RESIDENTS UPGRADE WITHOUT UPROOTING

Resident Upgraders

Strong resale values and high demand are turning some Everleigh residents from first home buyers to upgraders within a matter of years.

Fourteen Everleigh buyers have already purchased multiple properties - a total of 31 between them – since the first residents arrived in mid-2019.

Everleigh resident Aaron Day who lives with his teenage sons, Carter and Malachy and his border collie, Cuddles, has significantly upgraded his home while only increasing his mortgage by five percent.

We spoke to Aaron, whose parents, sister and niece also live in Everleigh, about his journey.

How did you become part of the Everleigh community?

I was looking for a way to get back into the property market and heard of Everleigh so went to take a look.

I immediately loved the place – it was open and inviting. I put a deposit on a block that same day then diligently saved to build a home.

Tell us about your first Everleigh home and how it’s put you in such a positive financial position.

I’d been out of the property market for seven years and had little borrowing capacity but wanted to give my boys an opportunity to move into a ‘forever home’.

We built a very basic house and moved into it with concrete floors as we couldn’t afford tiles and carpet at the time.

I’ve now sold that first Everleigh house, paid off my loan, purchased a new car and bought a new block.

And, I am living mortgage-free while I build my second house.

Tell us about your new home.

I’ve got a considerably bigger block with uninterrupted views to the 25-hectare sport and recreation precinct.

The house is 100sqm larger than my original one with all the extras and my mortgage has barely changed.

It’s unbelievable. It’s a position I never dreamed I’d be in when my two sons and I first moved into Everleigh in May 2020.

Everleigh has always been our dream location, but now we’re about to move into our dream house with all the bells and whistles.

Why do you think you’ve been able to unlock so much value from your Everleigh home?

Resale values are strong at Everleigh because quality is guaranteed.

It’s a highly desirable place to live with quality homes in a quality community thanks to Mirvac’s high standards in terms of covenant requirements.

The standard of living in Everleigh compared to other communities is clearly evident – I have friends who live in an estate nearby who come to Everleigh to use the facilities and enjoy the greenspace and parklands.

People are also paying good prices for pre-existing homes in Everleigh because demand is so high.

What do you love most about living in Everleigh?

It’s the old-school way of life. It’s what I had growing up as a kid – instead of playing video games you would hang around outside with your mates.

It’s a safe environment with a country atmosphere. There’s a real community feel here and that’s part of what makes it so desirable, especially for families.

There’s a reason my parents, sister and niece all built in Everleigh – they knew I was onto a good thing and wanted to be part of it. We couldn’t be happier.
