A three-step guide to buying your first home

To help you navigate the home buying and building experience, we spoke with Everleigh Sales Consultant, Chris Reid, who shared his three-step guide to stepping into the property market at Everleigh.
Get your finances in order
“The first step to building a solid foundation for the rest of your property journey at Everleigh is understanding your financial capability,” says Chris.
“To do so, take your time to find the right banker and broker whose communication style and approach are compatible with your own.
“Having the right team will mean you feel supported and that you’ll have a clear understanding of what your budget is and how to achieve your saving goals without placing a lot of stress on yourself.”
Understand the buying and building process
“The second step is building confidence in your understanding of the buying and building process,” says Chris.

“We can help educate you on areas you don't understand, including how to read a disclosure plan, understanding build price guarantees, the fundamentals of where you can place a home on a lot, or the right questions to ask builders.
“Each layer of knowledge will build greater confidence in the choices you make,” he says.
Take your time to pick the right builder
“Step three is taking your time to find the best builder for your needs,” says Chris.
“Picking the right builder is like dating. Early signs are important so ensure you consider your likes or dislikes and get to know them beyond a surface level, before making the final long-term commitment.
“A great place to begin your search is visiting the Everleigh Display Village and looking at the different homes within your budget and on different lot sizes, so you can get a true sense of what designs appeal and best suit your lifestyle.
“After looking at your options, narrow your choice to three builders and create a relationship with their sales representative. It should be quite clear from there who is the best fit for you.” .
