Downsizers build forever home at Everleigh

Pauline and John McMah never planned to leave their home of more than 27 years in Brisbane until they discovered the sense of community and lifestyle on offer at Everleigh in Greenbank.

“The first time we heard about Everleigh was when our son, Shane, and his wife, Jayne, told us they were thinking about building a home in Greenbank,” said John. 

“They were pretty quick to decide Everleigh was the community they wanted to build in and purchased their land at the beginning of 2021.

“As soon as they started their build, we started making trips to Everleigh and the surrounding local area so we could see the progress on their home and find out more about the community they were going to call home.”

Pauline said the pair fell in love with Everleigh after their visits gave them a taste of the lifestyle and friendly neighbourhood.   

“We loved the area and the look and feel of the place. It’s so green, open, and the people are very welcoming,” she said.

“John and I both love walking. So, when we went for walks around the parks we would end up meeting homeowners or people building here along the way, which led us to make many friends.

“The fact Mirvac is the developer behind Everleigh also appealed to us because our family home of almost three decades was also built by Mirvac. We trust what they develop will be of quality. 

“We started to have conversations about what it would be like to move to Everleigh, until one day I turned to John and said ‘alright, let's sell up and build at Everleigh’. He agreed, of course.”

Pauline and John soon secured a 375sqm lot at Everleigh in November 2021.

“Demand was so high at the time that we had to enter a ballot to secure land. We felt very lucky when we did,” said Pauline.

“The sales team were incredibly helpful throughout the whole process.”

Desire Homes started construction on the pair’s four-bedroom home in early 2022, and they expect to move in by early January 2023.

“Our building journey with Desire Homes has been wonderful, we have a lot of confidence in them. They have done a great job of keeping us informed and are very on top of everything,” said Pauline. 

“We know it’s been difficult for some people building their homes at the moment, but for us picking the right builder has made all the difference.

“For people deciding which builder they want to work with, our advice is to take your time and get to know them, speak to a few options and then choose the one you feel you can trust the most.

“My son and his wife have just moved into their new home at Everleigh, and it’s so lovely.

“We are now counting down the months until we can do the same and call this wonderful community home.”
